There are so many components that go into buying the products we know and love. Most of us consider taste, quality, ingredients and price point. But it’s important to also consider the source of the ingredients that go into the food we feed ourselves and our families.
According to the Fairtrade website, “Fairtrade changes the way trade works through better prices, decent working conditions and a fairer deal for farmers and workers in developing countries.” Fairtrade works with both farmers and business owners to agree on certain standards and then independently certifies the products. At AWAKE, we are proud to say all of our premium, delicious, caffeinated chocolates are Fairtrade certified.
Fairtrade farmers work in co-ops with minimum pricing agreements and premiums that help their own families and communities. Certain working condition standards and access to various resources are also a component of Fairtrade’s system. Buying Fairtrade certified products means you are continuing to invest in the farmers of tomorrow and feeding your family food you can feel good about.
