Trick or Treat? These Brown Butter Halloween Caffeinated Cookie Bars are hauntingly delicious. Gooey, buttery, and just the thing to keep you from turning into a zombie before the party’s over.
Ingredients:
-
3/4 cups (170g) unsalted butter, browned and cooled
-
1/2 cup (100g) dark brown sugar
-
1/2 cup (100g) white sugar
-
1 large egg, room temperature
-
1 large egg yolk, room temperature
-
1 tbsp vanilla
-
1 3/4 cups (210g) all-purpose flour
-
1/2 tsp baking soda
-
1/4 tsp baking powder
-
1/4 tsp cinnamon
-
1/4 tsp salt
-
3/4 cups (120g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
-
Halloween sprinkles
Directions:
-
Preheat the oven to 350℉/180℃. Line a 9x9 inch pan with parchment paper and set aside.
-
Brown the butter: Melt the butter in a medium sized pan over medium heat. Once it melts, it will foam up – keep mixing the butter to prevent burning. The butter will go from melted to golden quickly, it’ll be done when a nutty aroma arrives and the milk solids turn an amber brown. The whole process should take about 5 minutes! Cool completely.
-
Whisk together the brown butter, brown sugar and white sugar.
-
Whisk in egg, egg yolk, & vanilla.
-
Add flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. Gently fold just until no dry streaks appear.
-
Mix in chocolate chips.
-
Spread evenly in a 9x9 baking pan. Add AWAKE Chocolate Bites on top. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
-
Allow to cool, and enjoy!
